Pile up on the bed, kick the covers off, and read some books! 📷

A day off (Mardi Gras) means family fun. No parades for us today, but we are doing taco night. So really, we win.

Thanks to @manton, replies to my posts are now displayed directly on my blog. Want to see it in action? Reply to this post. 👋

A little taste of heaven.

🔗 Apple Weighs Loosening Restrictions on Rival IPhone, Music Apps

The technology giant is discussing whether to let users choose third-party web browser and mail applications as their default options on Apple’s mobile devices, replacing the company’s Safari browser and Mail app

It’s time for this to happen.

I’m selling a bunch of knives and stuff here. Chris Reeve, Benchmade, Spyderco, and more. Contact me in any way if you’re interested.

A bit of a crazy one today. This one has a retail value of $775. A Chris Reeve Small Sebenza 21, The Morning Sun with Chad Nichols Raindrop Damascus. That’s a mouthful of a name.

One more shot of the Shamwari.

As a pocket knife guy, these are the types you dream about getting your hands on. A Zirconium Shamwari. You have to enter a lottery with 1000+ others just for the opportunity to BUY one for multiple hundreds of dollars (they resell for double). Thanks to my wife for modeling.

Realizing you live in a dark red area. And you have two kids 3 and under. No more contact with other humans allowed! 😷

Lots of laughs!

YouTube is a $15 billion-a-year business, Google reveals for the first time - The Verge

On an annual basis, Google says YouTube generated $15 billion last year and contributed roughly 10 percent to all Google revenue.

There’s a lot of money in YouTube.

I have no real rooting interest in the Super Bowl, but I think the Chiefs take it. I bet it’ll be a surprisingly close game though. 🏈

Flexibits - Fantastical - The calendar app you won’t be able to live without.

Fantastical has a brand new user interface with multiple views, including detailed (and beautiful) full screen views for iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Fantastical has been my calendar app of choice for years, and this update only cements that.

Ring Doorbell App Packed with Third-Party Trackers - EFF

An investigation by EFF of the Ring doorbell app for Android found it to be packed with third-party trackers sending out a plethora of customers’ personally identifiable information (PII). Four main analytics and marketing companies were discovered to be receiving information such as the names, private IP addresses, mobile network carriers, persistent identifiers, and sensor data on the devices of paying customers.

Let me sum up this report (and previous reports) for you. If you have any product by Ring, destroy it. What a horrible product. There are alternatives that are better in every way.

Ready to deal. I have a current generation iPad Pro 12.9” 64GB in excellent condition with an Apple Pencil and the Apple Keyboard Case. Retail for the bundle is $1310 + tax. I’m asking $800 $750 or best offer fully shipped.

Update: Lowered asking price.

Cowboys Commemorate Team’s 60th Anniversary

On this date in history, January 28, 1960, Clint Murchison Jr. was awarded a National Football League expansion team at the League’s annual meeting in Miami Beach, Florida. As the newly minted franchise was approved, the Dallas Cowboys were born and became the NFL’s 13th team. The anniversary of that milestone, exactly 60 years ago today, marks the beginning of a year-long celebration, in 2020, of the organization’s rich and storied history.

Not much to add to this, but here are a couple photos that might tell you where I stand in my opinion on the Dallas Cowboys.

Super Bowl Means Guacamole—and a Spike in Avocado-Related Knife Injuries - WSJ

If you don’t use a spoon to remove the flesh, there’s a grisly side effect dubbed avocado-hand; ‘the perfect set-up for stabbing yourself’

I think they’re basically saying guacamole is dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. 🥑

It’s been 9 years since my first date with @kalena. Can’t believe she’s stuck with me this whole time!

There’s a knife I’ve wanted that can be so hard to find that it requires entering a lottery for the opportunity to buy one full price. The secondary market sells them for double or triple (or more) the retail price. Today, I won the lottery. Of course I bought it.

The Kobe news is horrible. I can’t imagine what his wife and daughters are going through. Praying for them and the families of the others who were killed. 🏀

Update: Some places are reporting his daughters were with him. I hope that isnt true! So sad.

Update 2: Looks like reports about daughters by ABC was bad reporting. Thankfully.

Update 3: As it turns out, one of his daughters was with him, along with another family and possibly up to 4 others. Such a horrible tragedy.

It wasn’t for me so I’m offering it to anyone who wants it. An Apple made clear case for the iPhone 11 Pro Max. You pay shipping and a cup of coffee and it’s yours. Still in good condition.

I gave the new clear case from Apple for my iPhone a good 4 month run, but in the end I switched back to a leather case. While the clear one didn’t yellow like others, it was still a nightmare to keep clean.

The new Vine app is now out, called Byte. It’s made by the same people who sold it to Twitter (Twitter shut it down). Be sure to follow me, I’m @mtt on Byte.

98.6 Degrees Fahrenheit Isn’t the Average Anymore

In a new study, researchers from Stanford University argue that Wunderlich’s number was correct at the time but is no longer accurate because the human body has changed. Today, they say, the average normal human-body temperature is closer to 97.5 degrees Fahrenheit.

I never would’ve found this interesting until having kids and never getting a reading near 98.6°.
